Context
The goal of this project was to increase the visibility of our engineering applications of biosignals acquisition at Instituto de Telecomunicações and provide younger students with hands-on experience in this field.
Solution
To achieve this, I developed an Arduino-compatible board with an integrated PPG sensor for DIY assembly using solderable TH components. The board was successfully deployed in workshops for secondary school students and has been used in our demonstration and workshop events ever since [1, 2].
Roadmap
Team brainstorming and conceptualization
Testing of Arduino board and PPG in the beardboard
Design of KiCad schematic, PCB layout and Bill-of-Materials
Soldering and testing the assembled board
Writing instruction’s manual for DIY assembly and code for PPG monitoring
Deployment in workshops
