Overview
In this workshop, me and my colleague Patrícia Bota introduced the PPG and EDA biosignal modalities and how they are currently used, along with facial recognition, in state-of-the-art applications related to affective computing. To make the workshop more engaging, we gave a device with PPG and EDA sensors to each of the 12 students and recorded their signals simultaneously with a video-screen capture of the PowerPoint during the presentation. We then came back to see how each part of the presentation correlated with varying degrees of excitement during the workshop.
It was interesting to see that students tended to be more excited at the beginning of the presentation, moments of increased interaction (e.g. we asked a few students play the scary maze game), and at the end of the presentation.
